Bio:

An educator by profession, Jan Greyvensteyn is a Certified Life Coach, pastoral counsellor and an addiction and recovery facilitator with Project Exodus; providing mental health coaching, support and counselling to members of his community.

Previously, Jan spent 18 years as the vice-principal of a high school in Pretoria. After which he founded Cornerstone College in Silverton, Pretoria, where he served as Cornerstone’s Principal for 6 years. Jan is Shamar Clinic’s dreamer, there is no mountain too high or goal too big that Shamar can’t reach. He is deeply passionate about people and shows compassion for their current realities and life stories. He’s able to relate to others in a way the encourages change and empowers individuals towards healing and wholeness.

Bio:

Dr. Annemarie Potgieter has more than three decades of experience as a Medical Doctor and Psychiatrist. She has worked with several hospitals, psychiatric institutions, professional boards and drug trials. As such her wealth of knowledge and expertise enriches the wellness approach adopted within Shamar Clinic. She has served on several medical boards during her career, often as the Chairperson.

Dr. Annemarie is currently working as a psychiatrist in private practice with a special interest in mood and anxiety disorders, adult ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and obesity. Furthermore, she dedicates her expertise to view these disorders from a Christian spirit, soul and body perspective. She is a compassionate psychiatrist who is interested in the life stories of her patients and walking a journey with them towards holistic healing.  Dr. Annemarie is a dreamer with vision and passion to see a change in Psychiatry in South Africa, to include holistic care that is long lasting. In recent years, Dr. Annemarie has co-authored several research papers aimed at sharing her knowledge and enhancing the field at large.

Bio:

Annelle is a qualified teacher and Educational Psychologist. She jointly founded a practice with her sister, Susan Schoeman called Sikhona Therapy.  The Zulu greeting reflects her African roots as well as her passion to equip the youth of today who will become South Africa’s future leaders. Furthermore,  Sikhona’s means “I am here” which represents the way in which Annelle turns up with compassion and interest for her clients. “Sikhona” further embodies the core value of their practice which aims to ensures that every client will be seen for who they are at present but also the potential for who they can become.

She is creative and her innovative approach allows for the development of relevant and unique resources which enhance her therapeutic approach. Annelle meets her clients where they are, adopting a flexible therapeutic approach which enables a customised solution infused with Neuro Psychology, Cognitive Behavioiural Therapy and Positive Psychology. She easily relates with adolescence’s given her trendy style and compassionate disposition. Her curious nature and love for learning has led to her becoming a part time lecturer at the University of Pretoria.

Wayne has 39 years of commercial and corporate experience across financial services, automotive services retail and pharmaceuticals. Wayne’s areas of expertise include Asset Based Finance, Business Project Management, new product/services development, Joint Ventures (local and international),  Multinational Corporations and Enterprise Risk Management, Ethics and Regulatory Compliance.

Wayne is highly experienced and offers Shamar Clinic invaluable expertise in the running of Shamar Clinic. He is highly passionate about seeing Shamar Clinic open it’s doors to the public as he firmly believes in accessible and holistic mental health care to individuals. Wayne is the implementor of the team, assisting Shamar Clinic in the practical elements that keep it moving forward everyday.

Bio:

Adult and Teenage Addiction Recovery Leader

Steven is a well experienced and qualified Addiction Recovery Coach and Group Facilitator, specialising in adult and teen addiction. With boldness and bravery Steven has been walking his own  recovery journey for the past 12 years and has been leading addiction groups for 8 years. Steven is a forerunner in the field of addiction and recovery, having facilitated over 1200 groups as of January 2023 to find healing and freedom. He is relatable, enthusiastic, passionate, gentle and encouraging.

He is also the Founder of Urban Recovery (in association with Project Exodus) and has enjoyed a success rate of 90% with clients who completed the program. The success rate is measured over a two year interval for each individual. Steven is highly skilled in promoting and facilitating lasting change in individuals struggling with addiction.

Bio:

Jessica Smith is a proficient and experienced administrator with a sincere passion for helping others. She is a qualified Bed Foundation Phase teacher with 7 years experience and has also headed up the Fundraising sector for an NPO in Pretoria. Her diverse experience equips her to effectively support across all spheres of Shamar.

Jessica is caring and is deeply committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families. She takes great pride in working alongside the Shamar’s dedicated team of healthcare professionals and her project management skills aid in ensuring the efficient running of Shamar.

Whether she is crunching numbers or managing projects, Jessica approaches every aspect of her work with the same level of professionalism,  dedication and enthusiasm. Her commitment  and energy make her an invaluable member of Shamar Clinic.
