Teen Eating Disorder Support

Shamar Equip is a three-week therapeutic programme designed to help teenagers build confidence, emotional resilience, self-awareness, and healthy coping skills through professionally facilitated group sessions and activities.

Understanding Eating Disorders and Building a Healthier Relationship With Food

Eating disorders can develop gradually as a person's relationship with food, eating or body weight becomes increasingly difficult to manage.

This may involve restrictive eating, excessive eating, excessive exercise, purging or the use of laxatives. In some cases, a teenager may not recognise that their relationship with food has become unhealthy until concerns are identified more formally.

Seeking support early is important, particularly where eating behaviours begin affecting physical health, emotional wellbeing or everyday life.

Supporting a Healthier Relationship With Food

Eating disorders are often complex and may develop gradually. Early support can help identify concerning eating behaviours and encourage a healthier relationship with food before these patterns cause further harm.

The programme information currently available also highlights the importance of personalised nutrition support that takes into account health needs, practical circumstances, food preferences and dietary requirements.
